Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a challenging and frequently frustrating clinical problem for the gynaecologist, it usually affects the reproductive-age woman. Endometriosis is a pathological condition in which the endometrium, consisting of endometrial glands and stroma, is found in locations outside the endometrial cavity. The usual location of endometriosis is in the pelvis. However, endometriosis has been described in extra-pelvic sites, including anterior abdominal wall, surgical scars, diaphragm, omentum, intestine, lung, urinary tract, musculoskeletal, and neural systems. Endometriosis is presented with pelvic pain, infertility, and dysfunctional uterine bleeding.

Dysmenorrhea

Dysmenorrhea is considered as one of the most frequently encountered gynaecologic disorders, refers to painful menstruation, more than 50% of post-pubescent menstruating women are affected by dysmenorrhea, with 10–12% of them having severe dysmenorrhea with incapacitation for 1–3 days each month. Dysmenorrhea is classified as primary or secondary dysmenorrhea. In primary dysmenorrhea painful menstrual cramps occur in the absence of any visible pelvic pathology that could account for it. In secondary dysmenorrhea, the painful menstruation is accompanied by visible pelvic pathology that accounts for the pain.

Diminished ovarian reserve (DOR)

Diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) is a condition in which the ovary loses its normal reproductive potential, compromising fertility. DOR is a decrease in the number and quality of the remaining eggs in the ovaries with a poor response to hormonal ovarian stimulation. DOR is one of the major conditions leading to infertility in women. Ovarian aging occurs naturally as women get older, making it more challenging to get pregnant and stay pregnant. However, DOR is not a condition exclusive to women over 40. It can affect younger women as well.

PCOS

POLY-CYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME (PCOS) is a condition that affects women during their childbearing years; it is a complex condition and considered as the most common endocrinal disorder in women. Although the cause of PCOS is still not clear, PCOS can result from abnormal function of the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis, it can be described as an oligogenic disorder in which the interaction of a number of genetic and environmental factors determine the heterogeneous, clinical, and biochemical phenotype, it has been also linked to insulin resistance and obesity. the condition can be presented by Hirsutism (growth of facial and body hair), Elevated androgen levels, irregular or skipped cycles (due to chronic anovulation), small cysts on one or both ovaries and delayed conception.

MENOPAUSE & MENOPAUSE TRANSITION

menopause is the permanent cessation of menstruation resulting from loss of ovarian follicular activity, It is confirmed after 12 consecutive months of amenorrhea in the absence of other pathological or physiological causes, while menopause transition (perimenopause) commences when the first features of approaching menopause begin until at least one year after final menstrual period. The menopause transition and menopause often involve troublesome symptoms, including vasomotor symptoms, vaginal dryness, skin changes, genitourinary problems, dry brittle hair, hair loss, decreased libido, insomnia, fatigue, and joint pain. it's to be noted that most of those symptoms could be now easily managed by customising and individualising the treatment for each patient as a separate entity.
